About the Leistungsabzeichen:
The Hitler Youth Proficiency Badge (Hitlerjugend-Leistungsabzeichen), established in 1934, recognized athletic achievement and educational knowledge within the Hitler Youth. The award aimed to encourage a disciplined, duty-oriented mindset among young male members, preparing them for future military and civic responsibilities.
To earn the badge, participants had to demonstrate commitment to both physical training and the ideological education of the Hitler Youth. They were required to attend at least eight local training evenings with active participation. Members of the Marine Hitler Youth substituted land-based athletic requirements with seafaring and water-sport tasks.
