About the raumbild:
Raumbild-Verlag, also known as Raumbild, was a German publishing house. It focused exclusively on stereoscopic photography combined with informative text. Otto Wilhelm Schönstein (1891–1958) founded the company in the 1930s in Dießen am Ammersee.
Raumbild created 6×13 cm stereo photo pairs for its own fold-out viewer, the Photoplastikon. Some versions of the viewer included Zeiss Jena lenses, known for their high quality.
During the Nazi era, Raumbild supported the NSDAP’s propaganda efforts. The company relocated several times and finally settled in Munich in 1939. Despite its political ties, Raumbild played a key role in documenting German life and ideology through immersive visuals.
