About the Kyffhäuserbund:
The Kyffhäuserbund began as part of the Deutscher Kriegerbund (German Warrior League). In 1900, it formed a league to unite scattered German war veterans’ associations. Originally named Kyffhäuser League of the German Countries’ Warriors Associations (Kyffhäuserbund der deutschen Landeskriegerverbände), it later became widely known simply as the Kyffhäuserbund.
By 1913, membership had grown to 2.8 million veterans, making it one of Germany’s largest societies. The organization maintained war memorials and actively supported political efforts during the German Empire, especially in opposing the rise of the social democratic movement.
Today, the Kyffhäuserbund stands as a historic veterans’ association with deep roots in Germany’s military and social history.
