About the Sudeten medal:

The German Reich introduced the 1 October 1938 Commemorative Medal (Sudetenland Medal) during the interwar period. It was the second in a series of Occupation Medals.

Adolf Hitler established the medal on 18 October 1938. It honored those who took part in the occupations of the Sudetenland in October 1938 and Czechoslovakia in March 1939.

Recipients included German State officials, Wehrmacht and SS members who entered the Sudetenland, and Sudeten Nazis who supported unification with Germany. A special bar was later added for those involved in the March 1939 occupation of the rest of Czechoslovakia or who gave significant support.

The government stopped awarding the medal on 31 December 1940. In total, they issued 1,162,617 medals and 134,563 bars.
