About the JM:
The Jungmädelbund (German for “Young Girls’ League”) was a section of the Hitler Youth for girls aged 10 to 14 during the Third Reich. Historians often abbreviate it as JM in period documents.
This girls’ organization belonged to the Bund Deutscher Mädel (BDM), or League of German Girls. The BDM-Reichsreferentin (National Leader of the BDM) directed the group and reported to the head of the Hitler Youth. Baldur von Schirach first held that position, and Artur Axmann later succeeded him.
The Jungmädelbund trained young girls in physical fitness and Nazi ideology. It prepared them for future roles in the BDM and reinforced loyalty to the regime.
