About the Segelfliegerabzeichen:
Glider pilot badges in Nazi Germany were awarded first by the German Air Sports Association (DLV) and, from 1937 onward, by the National Socialist Flying Corps (NSFK). These badges supported the pre‑military training of the Hitler Youth, preparing members for future service in the Luftwaffe.
The awards were divided into three performance levels:
- Level A:
Awarded from age 15 after completing initial successful solo flights.
Blue, circular badge featuring one white wing. - Level B:
Awarded from age 16 after completing turning flights and precision landings.
Blue badge featuring two white wings. - Level C:
Awarded from age 17 after completing a cross-country flight and endurance flight.
Blue badge featuring three white wings.
