About the Wound Badge:
The Wound Badge (German: Verwundetenabzeichen) was a German military decoration first established by Emperor Wilhelm II on March 3, 1918. It was originally awarded to soldiers of the German Army who sustained injuries during World War I. Between the two world wars, the badge was also awarded to members of the German armed forces who fought for the Nationalist side in the Spanish Civil War (1938–1939) and received combat-related wounds.
