Black Wound Badge

€ 55,00

About the item:

This original WWII German Black Wound Badge (not maker marked) provides an authentic piece of military history. Military authorities instituted the award in September 1939 to honor soldiers wounded during combat operations. Specifically, service members received the 3rd Class black badge after suffering one or two military wounds. Furthermore, this piece features a stamped sheet metal construction with a hollow reverse. Consequently, this award remains an essential addition for collectors of WWII militaria.

About the Wound Badge:

The Black Wound Badge (German: Verwundetenabzeichen) was a German military decoration first established by Emperor Wilhelm II on March 3, 1918. It was originally awarded to soldiers of the German Army who sustained injuries during World War I. Between the two world wars, the badge was also awarded to members of the German armed forces who fought for the Nationalist side in the Spanish Civil War (1938–1939) and received combat-related wounds.
