“Krüger Accuses” (Krüger klaagt aan) is a National Socialist propaganda pamphlet published in 1941 by the NSB (National Socialist Movement in the Netherlands) and written by Douwe Wouters. The booklet contains 47 pages and formed part of the NSB’s wartime propaganda efforts during World War II.
The pamphlet strongly criticizes Great Britain and uses the legacy of Paul Kruger, the former Boer leader and President of the South African Republic, to attack British foreign policy. Through this narrative, the publication sought to influence Dutch public opinion and generate support for Germany’s wartime objectives.
About the NSB
The National Socialist Movement in the Netherlands (NSB) (Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging in Nederland) started in 1931. Anton Mussert led the movement and helped it grow into the largest National Socialist party in the Netherlands.
During the 1930s, the NSB took part in elections and gained limited political support. After Germany occupied the Netherlands in World War II, the NSB worked with the Nazi regime. The movement promoted National Socialist policies and spread propaganda across the country.
For much of the occupation, the NSB operated as the only legal political party in the Netherlands. The organization remains an important topic in studies of Dutch wartime history, political extremism, and World War II propaganda.
