About the RAD:

The RAD Female Labor Service Arbeitsmaid Brooch is linked to the female branch of the Reich Labour Service.

The RAD aimed to reduce unemployment, organize the workforce, and promote state ideology. It included separate sections for men and women, with the RADwJ representing female youth service.

From June 1935, young men were required to complete a six-month labour service. During World War II, authorities extended compulsory service to young women, who then supported the war effort in various roles.

Role and Significance

Members of the RAD, including women in the RADwJ, carried out important support tasks. These included logistical work, construction, and assistance to the Wehrmacht.
