About the item:
Nice and in very good condition Third Reich commemorative medal (Erinnerungsmedaille) commemorating the formation of the Greater German Reich in 1938. The obverse features a right-facing portrait of Adolf Hitler surrounded by the inscription “DER EINER UND FÜHRER ALLER DEUTSCHEN” (“The one and leader of all Germans”), a slogan used in Nazi propaganda following the incorporation of Austria and the Sudetenland into Germany.
The reverse bears the inscription “DAS GROSSDEUTSCHE REICH IST ERSTANDEN” (“The Greater German Reich has arisen”) and commemorates two significant events of 1938:
- 13.3.1938 – The annexation (Anschluss) of Austria by Germany.
- 29.9.1938 – The Munich Agreement, which resulted in the annexation of the Sudetenland from Czechoslovakia.
The reverse design features a Reichsapfel (Imperial Orb) surmounted by an ornate cross, symbolizing the creation of the Großdeutsches Reich (Greater German Reich). A historical Third Reich political commemorative medal with sharp details, attractive bronze finish, and strong display appeal. An excellent addition to any WWII, Third Reich, or historical medal collection.
