About the DFW:
Das Deutsche Frauenwerk (DFW) was a National Socialist women’s organization established in October 1933. Alongside the NS-Frauenschaft, the DFW served as a central body for members of the gleichgeschalteten (coordinated) women’s associations from the Weimar Republic. These included nationalist and conservative women’s groups such as the Bund Königin Luise, Evangelisches Frauenwerk, the Sisterhood of the German Red Cross, and the Reichsbund der deutschen Hausfrauen.
The DFW played a key role in aligning women’s activities with Nazi ideology, promoting traditional gender roles, and integrating existing women’s organizations into the regime’s social and political framework.
