About the SA Gruppe Hochland:

SA-Gruppe Hochland (SA-Group Highland) operated as a regional unit of the Sturmabteilung (SA), the Nazi Party’s largest paramilitary organization. The group formed in May 1931 and remained active during the Weimar Republic and Nazi Germany. It managed SA operations in southern Bavaria from its headquarters in Munich.

Wilhelm Helfer commanded the unit for most of its existence. Other prominent members included Fritz Ritter von Kraußer, Karl von Eberstein, Johann Baptist Fuchs, and Wilhelm Schmid. During the Night of the Long Knives (30 June – 2 July 1934), the SS executed several of the group’s officers.

The Allied defeat in World War II led to the disbandment of SA-Gruppe Hochland along with the rest of the SA. Today, historians and collectors study this unit for its role in early Nazi paramilitary structure and internal power struggles.
