About the EK2 and Wound Badge:

The Iron Cross (Eisernes Kreuz, EK) was a German military decoration used in Prussia, the German Empire, and Nazi Germany. Its black cross pattée design, rooted in the Teutonic Order, became a lasting military symbol. Variants were used by the Wehrmacht, and today the Iron Cross remains the emblem of the Bundeswehr. front lines.

The Wound Badge (German: Verwundetenabzeichen) was a German military decoration first established by Emperor Wilhelm II on March 3, 1918. It was originally awarded to soldiers of the German Army who sustained injuries during World War I. Between the two world wars, the badge was also awarded to members of the German armed forces who fought for the Nationalist side in the Spanish Civil War (1938–1939) and received combat-related wounds.
