About the ISA:
The Infantry Assault Badge (German: Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen) was a German military award presented to Wehrmacht Heer and Waffen-SS soldiers during World War II. Established on December 20, 1939, by Generalfeldmarschall Walther von Brauchitsch, the badge recognized infantry and Gebirgsjäger (mountain infantry) troops who took part in at least three front-line assaults with light infantry weapons after January 1, 1940. The award also applied to counter-offensive actions, highlighting soldiers’ active participation in close combat operations on the front lines.
