About the Sudeten medal:

The 1 October 1938 Commemorative Medal (German: Die Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1. Oktober 1938), also called the Sudetenland Medal, recognized service during the Nazi German occupations in the interwar period. It was the second in a series of Occupation Medals.

The German government established the medal on 18 October 1938 to honor participants in the occupations of the Sudetenland in October 1938 and Czechoslovakia in March 1939.

Recipients included German state officials, Wehrmacht soldiers, and SS members who entered the Sudetenland on 18 October 1938. The medal also honored Sudeten Nazis who supported unification with Germany.

Officials later added a special bar to the ribbon for those who joined the occupation of the remaining parts of Czechoslovakia on 15 March 1939 or who provided important assistance.

The government issued the medal until 31 December 1940. In total, participants received 1,162,617 medals and 134,563 bars
