About the Good Conduct Medal:
The Good Conduct Medal ranks among the oldest military decorations in the United States Armed Forces. The U.S. Navy introduced its version of the Good Conduct Medal in 1869, the Marine Corps followed in 1896, the Coast Guard in 1923, the Army in 1941, and the Air Force in 1963. The Air Force Good Conduct Medal was briefly discontinued between February 2006 and February 2009 before being reinstated.
